Board of Directors

Kath Dickson Family Centre is governed by a Board of Directors to oversee its community operations and obligations. The Board meets on a monthly basis and is involved in the decision making process for the organisation. 

The Board of Directors holds the following positions:Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and Directors (2 – 7 members). All these positions are voluntary.


Dr Craig Russell 


Dr Craig Russell has been a Medical Practitioner for the past 19 years. Currently, his expertise is in the area of diagnosis and treatment of all types of skin cancers. He is currently a Skin Cancer Doctor, Specialist General Practitioner and a Director of the Darling Downs Skin Cancer Clinic in Toowoomba.

He also has extensive experience of Management Committees and currently sits on the Board of Kalila Kindergarten (Toowoomba), among others.

He is a tireless worker and contributor, serving the community.


Mark Jocumsen 

Vice Chairman

Mark Jocumsen is an experienced business strategy and transformation consultant, with strong strategic and entrepreneurial flair. He is currently Principal Consultant with Stategenics, a highly innovative and rapidly growing business strategy and transformation firm based in Toowoomba. His particular area of interest is in helping Toowoomba businesses develop their capacity in the fields of robotics and aerospace innovation. 

Prior to Strategenics, Mark founded the Toowoomba based business improvement consultancy, Better Business Outcomes in 2006. He remains as Director of this company.


Peter Sommer


Peter, a semi retired accountant, is a Fellow of the Institute Of Public Accountants and is an Associate of the Institute Of Chartered Secretaries, now the Governance Institute Of Australia. Career highlights include 20 years working for Borg Warner a USA automotive manufacturer both in Australia, New Zealand, the USA and the UK, ending in the role as Group Financial Controller, as well as roles with The Adelaide Steamship Company, Sydney Electricity and Sydney Water, Janke Brothers and M & S Steel Buildings.

Peter is currently working part time as a Quality Assurance Reviewer of Accountants in public practice. Treasurer of Save The Children Toowoomba, including previous Queensland state roles, an active member of Rotary and a too often frustrated golfer.


Murray Crawford 


Murray G. Crawford, Solicitor and principal of Crawford Laherty & O’Sullivan, Lawyers, has been involved in property and commercial law for the past seventeen years. Murray was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1987 and to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1999. He has lectured in taxation and business law at the USQ in Toowoomba, and at Monash University before that, so he has a rare blend of academic knowledge and practical experience.

As a solicitor, Murray has always devoted time to charitable and community work and has been on the Kath Dickson Board of Directors for the past decade.

Caitlin Easton 


Caitlin Easton is a proud woman of the Bundjalung nation. Caitlin works in medical research with the University of Queensland School of Medicine and has a particular interest in Indigenous Mental Health. Caitlin completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Southern Queensland in 2012 and is now working toward her PhD. She has worked in early childhood secondary and tertiary education and brings with her a bright and vibrant outlook on life. She has had a successful career as an Opera singer with her career highlight being her performance at the Sydney Opera House while 26 weeks pregnant. 

She is passionate about the work that Kath Dickson Family Centre is doing in the community and enjoys the work associated with the governance of the organisation. She lives in Toowoomba with her husband Nick, son Digby and Cat Bond. 


Tyrone Pearce 


Tyrone Pearce is an active community member from the Gunggari people of the Maranoa region of south west Qld. He proudly represents his people as an Indigenous Education Ambassador with DWEER Canberra. Tyrone is currently working in the construction industry applying his carpentry trade skills on the Toowoomba by pass.

Tyrone is passionate about Kath Dickson Family Centre and the work being done towards working with our local Indigenous community to bring change for our children of the future.

Jude Mills 

Chief Executive Officer

Jude Mills, CPA qualified accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce, joined as Finance Manager in January 2014, and subsequently was CEO on 1st July 2015.

Jude draws on her corporate and accounting experience having held senior management positions with Australian and internationally listed companies. 

She brings to our organisation a combination of enthusiasm, business management skills and a passion for children. 

Her goal is to assist our organisation make a difference for the children in our community.


Shirley Gillespie (21 Sept 1935 – 6 June 2016)

Life Member

Shirley Gillespie was the epitome of the spirit of our organisation, and will be sadly missed.

 “Aunty Shirl” started her journey with Kathleen Dickson from the beginning and supported the vision of our organisation for more than forty years. 

Kathleen Dickson invited her to help in the Toy library - that was a short step to the management committee. She was involved from early days of fundraising. The Street Stalls were not only encouraged by Kath Dickson but supported also by her jam making prowess.

Her passion for children and genuine care for every individual embodies our mission.
